RPG Writer's Workshop Updates!

Hey Pilgrims!

For those unaware, I (Mike) have joined in the RPG Writer’s Workshop, a month long seminar to assist writers in both creating their own process for completing projects as well as guides for tips and tricks for all steps of the process down to publishing and marketing! So far, the first week has included assignments for such things as building mood boards and nailing down the theme and feel of the project you want to work on.

The next step deals with prewriting (an extremely important step I might add) which deals with such topics as brainstorming and outlining. So far, as I’ve mentioned in our Discord (cough cough join our Discord cough cough) I have begun work on a new campaign idea revolving around the themes and aesthetics of the game Monster Hunter: World. The main idea being that a large group of adventurers are brought to a new continent where only one major outpost stands, and they are surrounded on all sides by wilderness. All supplies must be brought in from other nations, which of course takes a long time overseas, which leaves the players forced to gather and craft their own supplies.

Going off that idea, and a working title of, Into the Unknown, the first one shot has been outlined! Simply titled Into the Wilderness (I’m very original with my working titles, I know!) the first one shot revolves around players hunting down a random monster. As of now the overall vague outline is completed and I thought I would share with you how I outline my work as to help me during the writing stage.

Shown below you will find my working outline for my one shot and see how I plan one-shots and get them ready for the writing stage!

As always, keep wandering!
